Marewa Kindergarten is the oldest kindergarten under the Napier Kindergarten Association & as such we have second-generation families attending. We have a diverse range of children attending with mixed age groups. We encourage tua kana teina, where the older more experienced children support the younger children. There are always a wide variety of activities on offer each day to support children engaging in peaceful harmonious play. Our curriculum is play based with free flow of inside/outside play during the day. We do have set routines within the play which includes: mat time-kotahitanga where connections within the group are formed, morning tea time where the children are seated while eating over a set amount of time, lunch time where the children are seated together to eat out of their own lunch boxes, tidy-up time where all children are required to contribute & the end mat time where children are gathered to be released to their parents/whānau/caregivers. The children at our kindergarten learn holistically.

Our kindergarten values establishing & maintaining close relationships with the children & their families & it is a place where families come together, sometimes making lifelong friendships.

Children learn best when whānau & kindergarten work together in providing education for tamariki.
