At Napier Kindergarten Association, 100% of our kaiako (teachers) are fully qualified and registered early childhood professionals, dedicated to creating the best learning outcomes for every child. We provide education for tamariki between 2-5 years and our teaching philosophy nurtures the whole child – supporting emotional wellbeing, creativity, problem-solving, and social connection – laying strong foundations for lifelong learning.

Our kaiako embrace innovative, evidence-based practices, including play-based learning, inquiry approaches, and the principles of Te Whāriki, New Zealand’s Early Childhood Curriculum. This ensures tamariki experience rich, meaningful, and relevant learning every day in a safe, supportive, and inspiring environment.

Flexi Teacher

What is a Flexi Teacher?
Our Flexi Teachers are permanent Kaiako who work across our sixteen Napier Kindergarten Association kindergartens. They move between kindergartens to provide cover for staff leave, professional learning time, or absences. Flexi Teachers are a valued part of our team, providing consistency, and continuity of high-quality teaching for our tamaiti, by maintaining our 100% qualified and registered kaiako in each kindergarten. Flexi-teachers have a default kindergarten, where they are based for meetings, training, and will do the majority of cover.
