Sustainable Education
The Napier Kindergartens’ Enviroschools programme operates in partnership with the Toimata Foundation and Hawkes’ Bay Regional Council with a kaupapa of creating a healthy, peaceful, sustainable world through learning and taking action together. Enviroschools kindergartens are committed to a long-term sustainability learning journey, where tamariki, whānau and kaiako connect with and explore the environment, then plan, design and take action in their local places and communities. We reflect on and celebrate our Enviroschools mahi regularly. The 14 kindergartens who have formal agreements to be part of the Enviroschools programme receive support from a team of Napier Kindergarten kaiako who are also trained as Enviroschools facilitators.
Our Enviroschools learning is guided by these principles:
- Empowered learners
- Learning for sustainability
- Honouring Te Ao Māori
- Respect for diversity
- Sustainable communities
